GOAL ACHIEVEMENT SYSTEM™

“Without dreams and goals there is no living, only merely existing, and that is not why we are here.”

~ Mark Twain ~

goal is an idea of the future or desired result that a person envisions, plans and commits to achieve.

When it comes to setting goals, there are two types, the “be” goals (who do you want to be?) and the “do” goals (what do you want to achieve?) Goals can relate to any area of your life such as wealth, health, relationships and self-fulfilment.

Although people maintain that they understand the importance of goal setting in order to attain a better life, the majority of people actually never take the time to set clear goals for themselves. Those that do, however, often do not attain their goals because they run into one or more of these common roadblocks:

  • Fear of failure – Some people are afraid they will fail so they do not even bother trying to attain a goal. These people may lack confidence or belief in themselves so in their mind, they believe that if they fail, others will think negatively of them.

In transformation coaching, we say that failure is merely a signal that you need to learn another way to do it.  If what you are doing is not working, do anything else! Often we do the same thing over and over again, expecting different results!

  • Fear of success – Some people actually fear that they may succeed!  In their mind, they believe that if they succeed, others will be envious and think negatively of them.
  • Feeling unworthy of the end result – Some people believe they are not worthy of attaining a specific goal so they self-sabotage themselves by for example, neglecting to do a critical activity that will enable them to achieve their goal.
  • Lack of understanding of the goal-setting process – Some people believe that all that is required in goal setting is to write it on a piece of paper, set a completion date, and prepare an action plan – and that is where it ends.  Without action, persistence and focus, there will be no achievement.
  • Lack of commitment to the goal – If you are not fully committed and do not give your full effort to achieving the goal, you will either get mediocre results, or none at all.
  • Analysis paralysis – Some people believe that they cannot start on a goal until every “what if” scenario has been answered so they allow questions and doubts to paralyze them.
  • Lack of a real destination – If you do not have a destination in mind in respect or either who you want to be, or what you want to achieve, you will be forever changing course and falling short of your unlimited potential.
  • Failing to plan – Some people do not have a good plan in place and they do not use the resources available to them (i.e. their own personal skills, experiences, or the help of others).
  • Having too many goals – Too many goals often results in not enough focus on one priority goal in life.
  • Lack of motivation to change – Some people are satisfied with who they are, what they have and where they are in life. As such, they do not fully explore what else is available or what greater things they could achieve to take their life to the next level.

Goal achievement does not have to be an elusive target. You really can be whoever you want to be and do whatever it is that you desire in life!

“It always seems impossible until it’s done.”

~Nelson Mandela~
